   1. A Comprehensive Risk Assessment Framework for Rail Transport of Hazardous Materials

  摘要:   A number of risk measures including those based on incident probability and population exposure have been developed for rail transport of hazardous materials (hazmat). This paper presents a comprehensive risk assessment framework, which incorporates the sequence of events leading to hazmat release from derailed railcars and the resulting consequence, and demonstrates its use on a realistic size problem instance from the United States. It was very interesting to note that although risk models developed for rail are distinct than those for roads, use of different models resulted in different solutions for rail transport of hazmat –much like for road transport.

   2. Determination of the Maximum Running Speed of Trains in Urban Rail Transit

  摘要:   With the increasing of urban traffic congestion, urban rail transit has been an effective measure to tackle urban transport problems. The train maximum speed directly affects the safe interval time of train, then imposes the influence on the operational efficiency of urban rail transit. The purpose of this paper is to deduce the calculation formula of the safe interval time at the two different conditions, quasi-movable block and moving block. As well, the train maximum running speed and optimal value in the different conditions are presented.

   3. An Evaluation Model for Support Capability of Railway Quick Response Transportation

  摘要:   Five factors which affect the support capability of railway quick response transportation were discussed in this paper, then a model for evaluating the support capability is put forward based on Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Hilbert space. The results of AHP are used as the weight operator to establish the Hilbert index space. According to the weak compactness of the unit sphere in the Hilbert space, a model for evaluating the support capability of railway quick response transportation is established. The model has good data (including qualitative data and non-qualitative data) processing capability. The contribution rate of every index and accessibility of general index can be deduced by analyzing of the indexes and evaluation object. A case for the evaluation of the support capability for railway quick response transportation is analyzed in the end part of the paper. The result shows that the model in this paper is available for the evaluation of the support capability for railway quick response transportation.

   4. Emergency Evacuation Simulation of Urban Railway Station Based on EXODUS Software

  摘要:   地铁由其独特的条件:空间狭小、人员密集、结构复杂、疏散至室外的距离长,一旦发生事故,极易产生群死群伤的重大后果。论文使用EXODUS疏散仿真模拟软件对上海地铁某车站进行了人员疏散模拟仿真,并用人员安全疏散判据对疏散结果进行评价。最后结合EXODUS人员疏散模拟仿真过程,并通过不同情形下的仿真结果对比,提出了针对该车站应急疏散的建议。 Because of large passenger flow volume and special management environment,it is very difficult to effectively deal with such disasters as fires in subway station.Once the fire takes place in the subway station,it will result in a large number of death and injury as well as great property damage. This paper uses the EXODUS evacuation simulation software to emulate evacuation simulation of a station in shanghai. Finally, combining with the EXODUS personnel to disperse the analog simulation process, and through the different situations, presented for the station emergency evacuation recommendations.

   5. Passenger Train Plan Optimal System for Dedicated Passenger Traffic Line

  摘要:   In this paper, the characteristics of passenger train plan on Chinese dedicated passenger traffic line related are analyzed. Combined with the practical background of the operation and management of dedicated passenger traffic line, the bi-level optimal model of the passenger train plan is put forward and the solution method framework on the basis of simulated annealing algorithm is designed. Furthermore, the design demand、function demand and data organization for the optimal software system are discussed. The system can offer Decision-making advice for the operation of the passenger special line and provide theoretic support for the evaluation of the construction project of the dedicated passenger traffic line.

   6. Study on Accessibility Model for Passenger Transfer in Railway Hub

  摘要:   To analyze the accessibility of passengers transferring inside the railway hub and establish the connection of exiting corridors and mode-transferring nodes, a new concept transferring decision-making node is introduced. The passenger transferring decision-making nodes are regarded as internal nodes and mode- transferring nodes are external nodes. The passengers' transferring routes are formed by connecting those two kinds of nodes. So the passenger transferring accessibility matrix model can be built and calculated the shortest transferring-time based on Floyd algorithm, which is effective to analyze the hub's layout rationality and transfer efficiency. Taking Wuchang railway station as instance, it proves that the transferring resources accessibility have been well inosculated with the actual constraints of Wuchang railway station.

   7. Formation of Train Operation Conflict on High-speed Railways

  摘要:   The definition of train operation conflict on high-speed railways is given. How the train operation interferences lead to train operation conflicts on high-speed railway is studied. What’s more, the characteristic that the buffer time in the train diagram can decrease or eliminate the interferences caused by train delays is analyzed too. After studying the mechanism of how the buffer time in the train diagram absorbs train operation conflicts on high-speed railway, a system dynamics flow graph about the mechanism of train operation conflict on high-speed railways is given.

   8. Prediction of Ride Comfort Values Based on GA-BP Neural Network

  摘要:   Ride comfort is one of the most important dynamic performance characteristics of railway vehicles and is affected by various factors, vibration is taken as the primary concern because its effect relatively large in railway vehicles. For this reason, the measurement of the feelings of passengers according to the vibration is needed to evaluate the ride comfort of railway vehicles and various standards are used to evaluate the ride comfort of railway vehicles in many countries. In order to construct the mapping relationships of several ride comfort standards, prediction of ride comfort indices had been studied in this paper. Firstly, track irregularities were generated by track spectrum, and were imported to ADAMS/Rail to obtain vibration accelerations of carbody, and lateral, vertical and longitudinal vibration accelerations of carbody are acquired. Secondly, ride comfort indices were calculated according to the algorithm of ride comfort standards in MATLAB environment. The ride comfort standards investigated in this paper were ISO2631, BS 6841, ENV12299, UIC513 and Sperling. Finally, prediction model based on back propagation (BP) artificial neural network was constructed, and genetic algorithm (GA) was adopted to optimize the connecting weights and thresholds of BP artificial neural network. Then, the prediction models based on traditional BP artificial neural network and GA-BP artificial neural network were respectively conducted as a case study to validate the feasibility and reliability of the method proposed in this paper. The results show that the prediction model based on GA-BP artificial neural network has higher prediction accuracy and stronger generalization ability than the prediction model based on traditional BP artificial neural network in the prediction of ride comfort indices, and the prediction accuracy and generalization ability of the prediction model based on GA-BP artificial neural network can satisfy the requirements of the engineering.

   9. The Prediction of Derailment Coefficient using NARX Neural Networks

  摘要:   Operating and running safety is a very important aspect in current high speed, heavy load, large capacity and high-density railway transportation. Wheel-rail force is used to assess the stationary and security of the train, and used as the main basis for speed-limiting and speed-increasing. For such an importance, it has great theoretical and practical significances to obtain the value of wheel-rail force. Physical instrumented wheelset is a special sensor to measure the wheel-rail force which utilizes the wheel as a transfer elastomer. However, the defects such as high cost and high failure rate limit the promotion of physical instrumented wheelset. Multi-body dynamics simulation software is another effective method to obtain the wheel-rail force, such as ADAMS/RAIL, SIMPACK, MEDYNA, MEDYNA, NUCARS, etc., but they all have problems such as high purchase prices and poor real-timing. This paper proposes a data-driven approach to construct accurate wheel-rail force model to predict wheel-rail forces using NARX neural networks. Artificial neural networks are becoming increasing popular for modeling complex nonlinear system. The advantage of neural networks lies in their abilities to represent complex relationships, and to learn these relationships directly form collected data. The inputs of the neural network are vertical and lateral irregularities of left and right rails. The output of the model is the wheel-rail forces. In order to improve the generalization of the networks, Bayesian Regularization algorithm is proposed to train the neural network. The collected data are normalized into the range of [0 1] in order to accelerate the convergence speed. The preliminary experiments show that the NARX neural network can predict the wheel-rail forces accurately, which can partly be attributed to a key feedback to the input layer from the output neuron with a suitable time delay length.

   10. Railway track quality assessment method based on mechanism modeling

This leads to a weak correlation between the assessment quantities and the vehicle response forces.And a increasing number of researches indicated that the vertical and lateral irregularities of rail measured by the track inspection vehicles are not sufficient for safety evaluation,and that the status of wheel-rail forces should be raised in track quality assessment. Geometric track irregularities are one of the most important excitation parameters for a railway vehicle. The track excitation leads to high vibrations and therefore to dynamic vehicle response forces. These forces can cause safety problems or heavy track loading and track deterioration.The track quality assessment is essential for the maintenance work. The objective of the maintenance work is to minimize the vehicle response forces caused by the track geometry irregularities. To fulfil this requirement, assessment quantities of track geometry irregularities must be in strong correlation to quantities of the vehicle response forces. Our proposed method for track geometry assessment calculates a vehicle response prediction based on mechanism modeling.In this paper,the coupling thought of vehicle and track is applied,on the basis of the vertical vehicle-track coupling mechanism model,the vertical and lateral vehicle-track coupling model is set up.The track vertical profile ,cross-level,alignment and gage irregularities are regarded as stationary ergodic Gaussian random processes.The vertical and lateral random vibration of vehicle and track is analyzed.The results show that the geometry parameters which is not exceed still could cause excessive wheel-rail forces and brings threat to safety in vehicle operation.    11. Reliability Measurement and Evaluation of Pedestrian Facilities for Emergency Evacuation in Urban Rail Transit Terminal

  摘要:   The emergency evacuation process and evacuation time of pedestrians are both affected by many uncertain factors. Choosing the typical pedestrian facilities in a rail transit terminal, corridors and stairs, as research objects, the influence factors of pedestrian emergency evacuation in these two types of facilities were researched by analyzing the structural characteristics of facilities. The qualification of safety evacuation and the randomness of evacuation time were analyzed. Defining that pedestrian can arrive at the safety area before disaster happened as a successful safety evacuation and choosing the probability of a successful evacuation as the reliability index of emergency evacuation, the stochastic model was established considering connectivity of the facilities, travel time, capacity and other factors. Finally, a case application was given to make reliability measurement and evaluation method understandable. Conclusion of the research can provide references on rail transit terminal designing, emergency organization and safety evaluating.

   12. Grade X—A Network Screening and Countermeasure Analysis Tool for Highway-Railway Grade Crossings

  摘要:   A highway-railway grade crossing safety improvement program is usually established through three sequential steps: 1) identifying those crossings where the risk of collisions is unacceptably high and safety countermeasures are most warranted, 2) developing and evaluating alternative countermeasures that can be used to mitigate the collision risk at individual hotspots, and 3) prioritizing projects on the basis of detailed safety assessment and cost-benefit analysis. These tasks are often time-consuming, requiring application of complex statistical risk models and assessment of a large number of alternative solutions. Furthermore, some of these tasks need to be performed regularly with updated data and models. GradeX is a tool that has been developed to meet this need by providing an interface to automate these tasks and perform what-if analysis. It is a decision-support tool that can be used by railway safety engineers and decision-makers in Canada to identify and target grade crossing hotspots, evaluate countermeasures, and prioritize safety improvement projects. This paper provides an overview of this tool, including: a) its relation to various decision support needs arising in grade crossing safety work; b) its system framework and components; c) its methodologies for identifying hotspots and evaluating the effectiveness of countermeasures. The paper also highlights some of the recent research development related to GradeX, such as collision frequency and severity modeling, time trend of Canadian crossing safety and its possible explanations, and accident modification factors of several most widely applied countermeasures.

   13. Study on Safety of Trains Passing by Each Other at High Speed Based on Fluid-Solid Coupling Vibration

  摘要:   为了考察列车高速交会的压力波动、气动载荷冲击以及动态响应特性,防止压力波动对结构的破坏以及气动冲击对运行安全性的影响, 考虑列车与气流的耦合关系,综合计算流体动力学的有限体积法和系统多体动力学的数值仿真方法,同时求解流场方程和系统动力学方程,从压力波动、车体响应以及运行安全性出发研究列车高速交会的安全性。计算结果表明:列车交会压力波和车体动态动态响应仿真结果和线路试验相符较好,其中压力波头波均稍大于线路试验数据,仿真偏于安全。列车高速交会时,列车运行安全性降低,主要是脱轨系数和轮轴横向作用力的增大,而轮轨垂向作用力和轮重减载率变化不大。

   14. Flow Prediction Research of Urban Rail Transit Based on Support Vector Machine

  摘要:   The development of urban rail transit is one of the best ways to solve congestion and practice "low carbon traffic". At present, China's urban rail transit has entered a rapid development period. Predicting flow of urban rail transit provides the basis for the construction scale of rail transit. Finds the relations between rail transit flow and macroscopical factors, such as GDP, population and so on, which is the basis for prediction model. First, factors of urban rail transit flow are proposed. Second, construct flow prediction model by support vector machine (SVM) .Finally, the comparison study between BP neural network prediction model and SVM model based on the case study of Shanghai rail traffic flow prediction shows that the model is feasible. This model can be used in flow prediction of urban rail transit.

   15. Study on ride comfort indices correlation analysis based on BP Neural Network

  摘要:   Train, as a main means of rail transport, not only high speed and high security are required, but high comfort is also considered to be an important index to evaluate train operating quality. The ride comfort plays an important role in the vehicle design as well as in vehicle judgment. Ride comfort of railway vehicles is affected by many factors, such as vibration, acoustic noise, smell, temperature, humidity, visual stimuli and seat design. Among the various factors of ride comfort, vibration, which originates from vehicle motion, is taken as the primary concern because its effect is relatively large in railway vehicles. So far, there have been many studies on methods for evaluating ride comfort in railway vehicle at home and abroad. Most of the evaluation methods, however, recommend different evaluation methods and criteria. So under the same situation, using different evaluation methods for evaluating, the results are the same or not. What are the relations between various ride comfort evaluation indices. This paper aims to study the relationships between various ride comfort evaluation indices, by virtue of BP neural network and MATLAB software to acquire the relations between the ride comfort indices. Vibration comfort is subjective in nature with a fuzzy feeling. There are great difficulties in using traditional mathematical model to describe, but neural network has a huge advantage in this respect. In this paper, it provides a new thinking of evaluation of the vehicle comfort. According to the principle of neural network modeling, the actual vehicle vibration signals are processed as a model input, the actual feeling as the model output to establish. Using the actual data of vibration comfort train the neural network model and verify the generalization ability of the model. The prediction of models and actual results are generally consistent. Finally, we can acquire relations between various ride comfort evaluation indices through the BP neural network model established by this paper. The result of this study can convert one index to another immediately. And when raw data are not available or are missing and the ride comfort is evaluated in terms of one method, we can quickly acquire the evaluation result in terms of the ride comfort index needed.

   16. The Analysis of Influence of Lateral Free Clearance of Axle Box Bearings on Heavy Haul Locomotive

  摘要:   Abstract: To ensure the running safety of locomotive, a dynamics computing model of the 25T axle load C0-C0 axis dynamic model of heavy haul locomotive is established with the multi-rigid-body dynamics analysis software Simpack in this paper. Influence of lateral free clearance of intermediate axle box bearings on the stability of straight running , curve passing performance on three different radii and guidance force of wheelset , incidence angle , derailment coefficient, friction power was analyzed .The conclusion is that 13mm lateral free clearance of intermediate axle box bearings of middle axle can reduce the friction of wheel , optimize the overall dynamic performance of locomotive and ensure the locomotive’s operational safety . Meanwhile , this paper provide a proposal to the selection of lateral free clearance of intermediate axle box bearings of this type heavy haul locomotive.

  摘要:   Abstract: With the accelerating industrialization and urbanization in China,the pressure on resources and environment is more and more serious.To promote development of low carbon is to alleviate the pressure on resources and environment, improve the quality and efficiency of the development of a new direction. Rail transit as urban public transport system is an important part of urban transportation, called the aorta, and low carbon economic development is the most effective booster. Rail transit has advantages of environmental protection, energy saving, "green traffic". Vigorously develop rail transit is to promote the development of effective ways of low carbon to the government, but also the ability of testing the government control urban. At present, rail transport priority strategy has become the consensus, and urban development in nearly thirty cities has been implemented. Since 2006 Xi’an subway construction since the fourth anniversary of the first line, as nearly six dynasties and the geographical center, China Xi’an, after Beijing and Shanghai after approval of a third country become internationalization metropolis, future "triangle" the development of metropolis circle and super speed and prospect of the rail transit, yearning in public transport of passenger than will not less than 50%, can certainly say Xi’an is the next 10 years Chinese practice of urban rail transit construction. Subways and light rails reflects the current high science and technology development level. Also solve the fundamental way of urban public transportation, Xi’an subway to the sustainable development of historical cities have very important significance.

   18. Automotive Generic Hazard List (AGHL)

  摘要:   The Automotive Generic Hazard List (AGHL) is a new analysis method to identify hazards, baseing on recent work of the railway domain. The AGHL is organized in a matrix structure. The matrix comprises generic classes of environmental features and its parameters like rain, condition of the road, traffic routing, intervention strategies and possible accident scenarios. Embedded in a system development process the AGHL can be used in early stages in the development process, e.g. within first concepts of future driving assistance system. On the one hand the problem in early development stages is the fuzzyness of requirements. They are needed for the later specification of the driver assistance function. On the other hand the problem arises that knowledge is only based on future experience about the functionality. So it is very difficult to identify critical system states in early development stages. By means of the AGHL it is now possible to identify and build up an ordered cluster of hazards, depending on the functionality of the later assistance system. Hence hazards are already classified at concept level. Another possibility by using the AGHL are comparisons between different assistance systems. One of the achieved research results shows that a lane keep assistance system can prevent twice as many hazards as an adaptive cruise control system. With this character there are three more possibilities. First it is possible to use the AGHL for the comparison of two developed assistance systems. Second one can use it to assess each assistance function and its links to accidents. Third one can exchange results of the AGHL with other development groups. Currently a safety standard for the automotive domain is undergoing the standardization process. This ISO DIS 26262 describes methods for the development of electronic functions for safety. One of the main topics of this standard is to carry out risk analysis and assessment. The AGHL is able to support the analyzing methods which are recommended by the ISO DIS 26262. The results from the AGHL can also be used as a central theme

   19. Scheduling optimization for an urban subway line with deadheading strategy

  摘要:   This paper proposes a combination scheduling method with deadheading strategy for an urban subway line which connecting residential areas and workplaces during the morning rush hours. The deadheading strategy means to let part of trains directly return to the departure terminal without stopping along the smaller demand direction, in order to dispatch more trains along the larger demand direction subjected to the given number of electronic multiple units (EMU). The problem is formulated as a nonlinear programming model. The genetic algorithm is therefore adopted to solve the constructed model. Finally, the proposed model and algorithm have been successfully tested with the help of a real case.

   21. A Study on an Index System for the Evaluation of Railway Passenger Satisfaction

  摘要:   With the rapid development of transportation, the competition between different means of transportation is becoming increasingly fierce, where passenger satisfaction is one of the main reasons that the public select the means of transportation. Therefore, the evaluation of railway passenger satisfaction is significant for the improvement of railway transportation service quality. This paper, based on the analyses of railway passenger transport services, has proposed an index system for the evaluation of railway passenger satisfaction, and meanwhile, verified the index system and thereby given relevant suggestions.

   22. The Security-risk Management of Beijing Subway Network Operation

  摘要:   With new subway lines being continuously put into operation, as well as the scale of the line network increasing gradually, the Beijing subway has entered into an era of network operations. Networking operation is not only an opportunity but also a great challenge for the development of the subway. Compared to a single line operation, the risk of a networking operation stage embodies many new characteristics. With a view of keeping the whole network operating safely, combined with the experience of security management of Beijing subway networking operation and based on the analysis of the status and characteristics of the networking operation, this essay constructs a security-risk management system for Beijing subway networking operations from the following aspects: security-risk management organizing framework, security-risk management system, security-risk management methods and other aspects taken into consideration. The security risk analysis focuses on the threats which might be faced during the Beijing subway networking operations, such as the impact of large passenger flow, fire, terrorist attack and vehicles equipment. Thus, we propose some control strategies and measures for the security risk management of Beijing subway networking operations.

   23. Hazard Assessment on Railway Dangerous Goods Station

  摘要:   An approach is presented to evaluate the risk probability of the railway dangerous goods station by adopting the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and establish a new multi-level index system in the railway dangerous goods station. Starting with the classification of “two class of hazards”, dangerous goods comprehensive hazard factor has been chosen to characterize flammability, explosivity and toxicity so as to accumulate the dangerous goods integrated hazard index of railway dangerous goods station by conversing different dangerous goods hazard to the same scales, and it has chosen the indices that are characterized of the railway dangerous goods station and determined the weight of each index by AHP so as to establish an index system featured with the railway dangerous goods station. Finally, according to the defined safety level of the system and the set pair analysis will enable us to predict the development trends of the safety status in the system. The new approach here recommended is not only suitable for the hazard assessment, but also provides the gist to find the potential hazards that are likely to lead to dangerous accidents so as for the managers and departments concerned to take measures beforehand, and carry on safety management by setting up a relevant standard for the corresponding departments facing similar problems
